NewRange Copper Nickel LLC (NewRange) is advancing the responsible and sustainable development of copper, nickel, cobalt and platinum-palladium resources in northern Minnesota. NewRange has been preparing for decades to procure the raw materials needed for the clean energy transition and create a positive legacy for the next generation of mining.

Since 2017, Giant has been an integral strategic and communications partner for NewRange, helping develop messaging, support government affairs and build a brand that local communities trust.

A new vision for newrange

NewRange is a joint venture partnership placing two separate mineral resources and associated above-ground assets under one company. It brought two excellent entities together into a single powerful player. Giant helped facilitate the transition from a communications perspective through a workshop designed to align goals and priorities, identify key challenges and evaluate resources and opportunities available to the joint venture. From there, we helped develop a new mission, vision, values and brand voice.

Right Place. Right Time. RIGHT PROJECT.

Minnesota’s Iron Range has a long history of mining excellence. Every year, NewRange reaches thousands with its presence at the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament in St. Paul. Together, we’ve created powerful commercials, impactful messaging and an outstanding interactive booth experience. The goal is to lead Minnesotans to the understanding that mining responsibly supports local, state and national clean energy goals—and a better future for us all.

Office upgrade

With the joint venture official, we had the fun job of bringing the NewRange brand to life throughout its headquarters. This old and outdated mining administrative building now showcases local artists, new wayfinding signs, rebranded conference rooms and an updated employee lounge exuding NewRange brand values. With both major structural and design enhancements, this building provides a modern office space for NewRange employees, traveling contractors and visitors, with more updates on the horizon.

Collaborating for a better future

A project of this magnitude requires a variety of partners and subject matter experts to bring its strategy and vision to reality. Giant works alongside NewRange’s national communications and public relations partners to amplify messaging and make meaningful connections on the local level. Our deep understanding of the region, including its past and present sentiments toward industrial development, allows us to tailor communications for specific target audiences and drive a stronger impact.
